Our History
The school was opened at 10:30 on Wednesday 1st August 1945 with 33 children on roll being transferredfrom Lloyds Primary School with Ms CM Mtaung as Principal. Its 1st Chairman of the School Committeewas Rev Cele. Ms Mtaung took the school from this date until 12 December 1947. The baton was thenthrown to a new Principal Ms RE Vilakazi who ran with until 14 December 1955 with 64 children on roll.
The least led Principal of this school was Ms GK Kuzwayo who started on 01 February 1956 running until 29 March 1956 with 54 children. She was then replaced by Ms CT Ngobese on 03 April 1956 who led until 03 December 1956. From 1957 Ms EZ Sibiya took over and ran until 28 February 1958 and replaced by Mrs BS Simelane who took care of learners until 28 March 1958. Other people who came to the rescue of leading the school until 1967 were DC Mngadi, BN Mashabane, EM Mhlongo and CH Mbambo.
Ms FC Mbonambi who later became Mrs FC Gumede took over on 18 April 1967 and ran until end of March 1997. She managed the school from 97 children and grew it up to 433 children on the 21th day of January 1997 with 12 classrooms and office. Then Mrs NA Dube acted from this date until 11 August 1998 where she handed over to Mr NKD Khuzwayo, a new Principal, with 538 learners reflecting to have been on roll on the 10th day and 12 educators.
The era of NKD Khuzwayo stretched from this date to date accumulating 20 years leading and growing the school with stakeholders from no SMT Member to 7 SMT Members and 40 level 1 educators, 1 Admin Personnel and 1 Cleaner with 17 new classrooms, 3 prefabs classrooms 2 blocks of toilets and 1719 learners. The serious challenge the school faces currently is a lack of floor-space. The SGB even built the kitchen and storeroom. His leadership earned the school with Mr Cele being promoted to Principalship and some Members of staff promoted internally.
